alex howard

Hi, I'm Alex Howard – a photographer, writer, and drummer.

I document music scenes and the people who shape them, while also working behind the scenes on events and strategy across grassroots and institutional settings. I translate creative vision into compelling stories – onstage, online and in print. I received my BA in Sociology from Columbia University in the City of New York and studied photography at Neue Schule für Fotografie in Berlin. I'm third-generation Mexican American, born and raised in Houston, Texas.

My work explores myth, liminality, and impermanence through a Baroque lens. It’s inspired by the ever-shifting landscape of the Chihuahuan desert – from the desolation of winter, where the ground looks like the lunar surface, to the sudden bloom after rainfall, when new plants and bugs emerge with urgency.
