Hi, I'm Alex: a Houston, Texas based photographer documenting local music scenes and international touring indie acts.

After college (where I fell in love with the B&W darkroom), I lived in Berlin for nearly two years. Studying at Neue Schule Für Fotografie and working on the freelance artist visa, I contributed to KALTBLUT Magazine and photographed music festivals, such as Iceland Airwaves and Primavera Sound.

On my way to shoot SXSW in 2020, I ended up staying in Texas and inevitably losing my German visa. Later that year, I curated a solo exhibition titled “A Year Without Live Music” at MKT Bar, which led to being profiled by Houston CityBook for their annual music issue.

Returning to New York after Covid-19, I photographed DIY and indie bands in my free time, and now, I continue to collaborate with creative communities in Brooklyn, Berlin, and sometimes Reykjavik. Email: alxmvh @ gmail . com
